Stamping molding

Stamping molding

ACM stands for Advanced Composites Materials which consist in advanced materials such as Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastics. They are usually used in car components, airplanes, sport & leisure industry, construction materials, etc.
We mainly handle thermoplastic ACM for molding.

Stamping molding process

1.Blanking
The sheet is cut in to a determined size depending on the size of the final product.

2.Infrared heating
The blank is put inside an infrared heating furnace and it is heated till it melts.
Heating temperature: 150 – 370 ℃

3.Mold setting
The melted blank is poured in to the mold. Molding time: 3 minutes per time

4.Stamping molding
The mold is closed and parameters such as pressure, temperature, time are set according to the specification of the final product.

Video of stamping molding

We apply the stamping mold technique to process thermoplastic ACM. We use a stampable sheet that includes some reinforced fiber. The reinforced fiber could consist of glass fiber, carbon fiber or aramid fiber, etc.

The form of the fiber varies depending on the application. Also, resin such as PP, PET, PPS, PEEK can be chosen.

Features of ACM stampable sheet

Compared to metal

  • It is lighter and it does not rust.
  • Suitable for complex molding.
  • Excellent molding processability.

Compared to SMC (sheet molding compound)

  • The molding cycle is short making it have a good productivity
  • It is tougher and has high impact strength.
  • Better molding work environment.

Compared to injection molding

  • Excellent strength and suitable for large products.
  • No intensity directionality.
  • Excellent dimensional stability.

Stampable sheet has thermoplastic properties as well as the advantages of metals. Due to its excellent physical property balance and excellent formability, it is often chosen for some applications
